DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Warren informed the Board that weather permitting, the Mulligans Bluff Road bridge will be paved this week and the Behnfeldt Road bridge will have beams set.  Hagy Road between Fruit Ridge Road and Wolf Road will be closing this week for a bridge replacement.

 

Julie Rittenhouse, Defiance County Public Safety Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Julie reported that the building inspections, drug free work place trainings, and two fire drills at the Hicksville Senior Center have been completed.  The FY 2008 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) has a balance of $14,266.49.  The FY 2009 Emergency Management Performance Grant has been completed ($47,023.00 total).

 

Sherri Noll, CEBCO, met with the Commissioners to provide a presentation of health insurance options that CEBCO provides.  

 

The Commissioners held budget hearings with Public Safety Services, Job & Family Services, Wastewater Operations, Treasurer and Probate/Juvenile Court. 

 

The Defiance County Board of Commissioners periodically dispose of personal property that is unneeded, obsolete or unfit for the use for which it was acquired through the use of an internet auction. This may include motor vehicles, road machinery, equipment, tools or supplies. The Board has contracted with GovDeals, Inc. to conduct the auctions on their behalf.  A link is provided on the County’s website, www.defiance-county.com, under Surplus Auction Items.  There are currently many items listed left from the Senior Center move.
