DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2006

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, November 2, 2006.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner’s Richard Cromwell, Otto L. Nicely and Clerk, Lyla Gurwell.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed, and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners approved a change order for Defiance County Ditch Maintenance for the Highland Ditch Project.  S. A. Sidle was awarded the job in June and is requesting an increase of 62 days on the project due to wet weather and poor working conditions.

 

The Commissioners also received a report from Teresa Johnson from the OSU Extension Office regarding the 2006 Defiance County Junior 4-H Livestock sale.  Teresa worked on compiling the information and corrected discrepancies with buyer invoices. 

 

Teresa also followed up with the National Check Off organizations to determine if check off’s were paid for 2005.  It was determined that none was paid for 2005.  Teresa worked on determining those amounts and completed the necessary documentation to submit payments.

 

County Administrator Becky Wagner submitted her report to the Board.  Becky reported speaking to Defiance County Maintenance Supervisor Ron Cereghin about the Airport Sewer Project.  Becky indicated the contractor is setting the grinder pumps at the site and has run the wiring for them.

 

Becky also discussed the project at the animal shelter and said the drain lines are in and the project is progressing.

 

Julie Fowler, Defiance County Emergency Management Director came in to review the Defiance County Local Emergency Planning Committee By-Laws.  There will need to be a change in committee members.  Julie will submit those changes for approval of the Board.

 

Jerry Overmier from Beilharz Architects came in to review the water test results for the proposed new Defiance County Senior Center site.  Jerry indicated based on the results of a fire flow test on specific fire hydrants within the County’s water distribution system located at the Defiance County East Complex, there is adequate pressure for fully functioning water services at the proposed location site.
