The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in the Hicksville Village Council Room,
Hicksville, Ohio. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely
and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and
Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the
Board. Laura informed the Board that
Maintenance winterized the Defiance County East cooling tower and the garden
hydrant, replaced the heat exchanger for the Commissioner’s office, painted all
exterior steel gas lines on Commissioner’s building and Evergreen Lane Office
Complex, and serviced heating units for operation.
The Commissioners traveled from Hicksville with Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, to review various road and bridge projects from the
last year. The Commissioners also did
the annual snow plow inspection at the Defiance County Highway Garage.
Bob Loversidge and Melinda Shah, Schooley Caldwell Associates, met with
the Commissioners for a Historic Jail Project meeting.
The Commissioners recently received the October, 2010 monthly report
from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder.
Cecilia reported the total instruments recorded as follows: Deeds – 152; Mortgages – 258; Releases – 213;
Liens – 13; Power of Attorney – 7; Plats – 1.
She also reported total receipts of $31,481.20, of which $15,255.10 is
the Housing Trust Fund and $13,710.10 is the General Fund.
