DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2005

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Monday November 7, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator, Lyla Gurwell Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

8:30 A.M.     General Session      Clerk, Lyla Gurwell presented various resolutions, contracts and documents for approval of the Commissioners.  Commissioners also approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners approved the hiring of two new employees.  One employee was hired part-time for the Senior Center and another employee was hired full-time for the Maintenance Department.

 

10:15 A.M.    Defiance County Engineer, Warren Schlatter came in to update the Commissioners

on road repairs to the bridge on Jericho and Wonderly Roads. 

 

Warren also discussed the reopening of Adams Ridge Road on Wednesday of this week. It has been closed for bridge replacement between Youngman Road and Nagel Road.  Warren reported that sections of Adams Ridge Road will be closed periodically for culvert replacements.

 

Warren also reported that his staff is currently working on the Elliott Road plans and they are hoping for a December 2005 bid date.

 

11:00 A.M     First Insurance Representative, Ken Keller came in along with Marlene J. Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor to discuss changes in the Counties Insurance program changes.  The Commissioners are looking at few changes and further information with be distributed to all eligible County employees within the next week.

 

1:30 P.M.     Ayersville Water And Sewer President, Steve Brown came in along with Jeff Ankney, District Manager of Defiance Soil & Water as well as Kim Baker from Eastman & Smith, and Kim Moss from the Defiance County Health Department.  The Commissioners requested that an updated map showing the current sewer and water lines be given along with updated district boundaries. 

 

3:00 P.M.     Commissioners attended the Veterans Board Meeting to review their budget.
