DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Tina informed the Board that during September there were 324 congregate meals and 3,351 home delivered meals; during October there were 1,109 congregate meals and 5,715 home delivered meals.  The Thanksgiving Thank You Luncheon (to thank all their volunteers) is on Tuesday, October 23rd starting at 11:30 a.m.  The Christmas Open House is on Tuesday, December 21st starting at 11:30 a.m.  There is a yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Warren provided his 2010 Accumulated Revenue Report.  Accumulated revenue for October was $3,438,652.91 compared to $3,364,982.49 in 2009 and $3,506,462.39 in 2008.  Warren stated that Hagy Road and Behnfeldt Road are still closed for bridge replacements.  Mulligans Bluff Road opened last week, after being closed for a bridge replacement.

 

The Board met with Fort Defiance Humane Society to discuss operations.  The Commissioners will be providing Fort Defiance Humane Society a letter detailing items that must be completed.

 

Jack Graf, Defiance County Job & Family Services Director, and Emilie Handley, JobWorks, met with the Commissioners for an update of the WIA Youth program.  Emilie stated that there are currently 55 clients being served. 

 

The Commissioners held budget hearings with Child Support Enforcement Agency, Recorder and Prosecutor.
