NEWS RELEASE

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday, November 13, 2003. The meeting was called to order by Otto L. Nicely, Vice-Chairman. Present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Richard L. Cromwell. Also present were Alison Grimes, Clerk and Debra Bloomfield, Deputy Clerk.

8:30 a.m. General Session – During a very light agenda, Commissioners approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

10:00 a.m. Sergeant Chris Clawson, Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, met with the Board to open bids for three 2004 Sheriff’s vehicles. Also attending was Wes Moats, Mark Moats Ford, Dave Knipp, Beckman Chevrolet/Cadillac, Defiance and Richard Wilson, Stykemain Chevrolet/Pontiac, Paulding. The following bids were received:

Mark Moats Ford 2004 Explorer 4 x 4 $22,875.00 per vehicle

Defiance, Ohio

Beckman Chevrolet/Cadillac 2004 Chevy Tahoe $27,200.00 per vehicle

Defiance, Ohio

Beckman Chevrolet/Cadillac 2004 Trail Blazer $23,962.18 per vehicle

Defiance, Ohio

Stykemain Chevrolet 2004 Chevy Tahoe $27,723.12 per vehicle

Paulding, Ohio

32 Ford Mercury 2004 Explorer 4 x 4 $21,703.00 per vehicle

Batavia, Ohio

State of Ohio 2004 Explorer 4 x 4 $21,857.00 per vehicle

Columbus, Ohio

All vehicles are four wheel drive and offer a special service package. The bids were accepted and taken under advisement by the Board. Sergeant Clawson will review the bids and make a recommendation to the Board early next week.
