NEWS RELEASE

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio  43512 on Monday, November 17, 2003.  The meeting was called to order by Thomas Kime, Chairman.  Present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime, Otto L. Nicely and Richard L. Cromwell.  Also present was  Alison Grimes, Clerk and Debra Bloomfield, Deputy Clerk.    

 

 

8:30 a.m.        Russ Herman, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Defiance County, met with the Board to review any documents pending his review and/or approval.  Currently, Mr. Herman is up-to-date on County documents.

 

 

9:00 a.m.        General Session – Commissioners approved the minutes from Board meetings Nov. 10 and 13, 2003, signed various resolutions, travel requests and vouchers, reviewed the agenda items, the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events. 

 

The Commissioners awarded the bid for the purchase of 3 Sheriff’s utility vehicles to Mark Moats Ford, Defiance, for the amount of $22,875 per vehicle (including the Powertrain 100,000 / 5 yr. warranty).  The low bid of $21,703 per vehicle was submitted by 32 Ford Mercury, Batavia, Ohio, but this did not include the $1,020 for the 100,000 mile / 5 yr. warranty.  It was noted that the Board of Commissioners awarded the bid locally to save travel out of county for service and warranty work.

 

A meeting to discuss the General Motors Enterprise Zone Agreement has been scheduled for Thursday, November 20, at 10:00 in the Commissioners’ Conference Room.  Attending will be representatives from Ayersville Local Schools and Jerry Hayes, Economic Development Director.

 

10:00 a.m.      Gaylon Davis, County Engineer, accompanied the Board of Commissioners on an annual roads and snow plow inspection.
