COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2008
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m.
on Monday, November 17, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office
at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners James E.
Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell,
Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in
Executive Session with Defiance City School Board Monday morning. No decisions were made.
The Commissioners met in General
Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and
documents. The Commissioners also
reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Russ Herman, Defiance County
Assistant Prosecutor met with the Commissioners for an update on various
pending legal matters.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update. Warren
informed the Board that Independence
Road between CR 424 and Elliott Road will be closed this week for
culvert replacement.
Chris
Clawson, Lieutenant of Defiance County Sheriff’s
Department, met with the Commissioners to request the bid for 2009
cruisers. The Sheriff’s Department would
like to purchase three new vehicles: two four-wheel drive Specialty Service
Vehicles and one rear-wheel drive police cruiser. The Commissioners’ Office will be proceeding
with the bid process for three new vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department.
Gary Keys, Richard
Wilkens and Bob Toth, Toledo Edison, Warren Schlatter, County Engineer,
and Jeff Strausbaugh and Russ Herman, Prosecuting Attorney’s Office met with
the Commissioners concerning County right-of-way usage and the County permit
process.
The Commissioners
met in the afternoon for budget meetings with Veteran’s Affairs,
Landfill/Environmental Services and Dog Warden.
Budget meetings will continue on Tuesday.
Monday evening the
Commissioners attended the Kinner Ditch #04-01 Informational Meeting/Viewing at
Evergreen Lane. Landowners voiced their opinion either for or
against the project.
