The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 in
the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely
and Thomas L. Kime, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2011 Holiday Schedule, as
per Ohio Revised Code, for Defiance County Offices as follows:

Monday February 21, 2011 President’s Day
Monday May 30, 2011 Memorial Day
Monday July 4, 2011 Independence

Friday November 25, 2011 in observance of

Christmas Day
Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, met with the Commissioners for
an update. Randy reported 132 calls
investigated, resulting in 15 dogs taken to the shelter, 21 warnings and 35
citations. There were 3,589 miles driven
for the month and $1,170.00
received in Municipal Court fines. There
has been $88,375.00 year to date collected for dog tags compared to $81,225.00
for 2009.
Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, met with the Commissioners for the
Defiance County Fairgrounds Grandstand Electrical Work bid opening. The following bids were received: Kingfish
Electric, Paulding, Ohio - $36,500.00; Woolace Electric, Stryker, Ohio -
$28,000.00; Lake Erie Electric, Toledo, Ohio - $44,500.00; Stollsteimer
Electric, Defiance, Ohio - $28,490.00; L-A Electric, Fort Wayne, Indiana -
$58,291.00; CV Electric, Bryan, Ohio - $43,842.00. The pre-bid estimate was $30,000.00. The Commissioners took the bids under
advisement and will award at a later date.
The Defiance County Planning Commission
meeting was cancelled.
