DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2005

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Monday November 21, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator, Lyla Gurwell Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

8:30 A.M.     General Session      Clerk, Lyla Gurwell presented various resolutions, contracts and documents for approval of the Commissioners.  Commissioners also approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

Defiance County Treasurer Karen Tubbs presented to the Commissioners the Memorandum of Agreements for bank depositories to be signed.  This included Key Bank, Hicksville Building & Loan, First Federal Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Hicksville Bank, Farmers and Merchants Bank, The State Bank & Trust Company & National City Bank as secondary deposit for public money.  Sky Bank was designated the depositor for Defiance County’s active checking account from November 15, 2005 and ending November 14, 2009.

 

10:30 A.M.    Economic Development Director Jerry Hayes & Assistant Director Matt Gilroy came in to present four amended Enterprise Zone Agreements.  Two agreements were for Defiance Metal Products, One for Werlor, Inc., one for Stover Family Investments, LLC and Agri-Lube, Inc.

 

11:00 A.M.    Larry Woods and Faye Hall from First Insurance came in along with Mark Hopper, Director of Defiance County Emergency Management to review the Insurance Renewal to CORSA County Risk Sharing Authority) for 2006.

 

Several bridges within Defiance County have been added to the insurance in part because of the accident on the Glenburg Road Bridge several months ago.

 

There were also adjustments made because of the new Defiance County East building contents and its tenants.

 

During the Afternoon sessions, the Commissioners met with Sheriff Westrick from the Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, Jerry Hayes Director of Economic Development, Jane Tadsen Defiance County Recorder and Marlene J. Goodwin Defiance County Auditor to go over 2006 Budgets.
