The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session on Monday, November 27, 2006, at 8:30 a.m., in the
Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners,
500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.
Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Richard L.
Cromwell and Otto L. Nicely, Becky Wagner, County Administrator
and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval. The
Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, and reviewed
and updated the calendar of events.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met briefly with the Board
of County Commissioners. Warren reported that there are no road closures in Defiance County at the present time. Warren
also reported that the tree removal project on Harding Road between Watson Road and Garman Road is almost completed.
The Commissioners informed Warren
that they have been invited by the Ohio Department of Transportation to attend
the SR 66 & US 24 Stakeholder Meeting on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at
the Knights of Columbus Hall in Defiance.
The meeting is an informational meeting on the SR 66 & US 24
Interchange and Corridor Improvements Project.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is partnering with the City of Defiance to replace, raise
and widen the SR 66 Bridge over US 24.
Currently, this project is scheduled to begin in 2010.
Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development, along with Matt
Gilroy met with the Commissioners to discuss an Enterprise Zone Agreement with
Advantage Power Coating, Inc. and Fountain City Leasing Company, Inc. The Enterprise Zone Agreement is for
constructing a new automated vehicle wash center building on a land parcel
owned by Advantage Powder Coating, Inc. on East Second Street and making improvements
to a building owned by Advantage Powder Coating, Inc. located at 2090 East Second Street,
Defiance, OH. The
total investment for this project by the Enterprises is $697,503.00, plus or
minus 20%. Only the investment of
$505,788.00 in the building improvements is covered in the Enterprise Zone
Agreement with 70% exemption on real property improvements for a period of
seven (7) years. The project will be
concluded by March 31, 2007. After discussion, the Commissioners entered
into an Enterprise Zone Agreement with Advantage Powder Coating, Inc. and
fountain City Leasing Company, Inc.
