DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, County Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk

 

Marc Kamer of Peck, Shaffer & Williams, LLP and Brent Tow, CEO of Community Health Professionals had a conference call with the Commissioners to discuss the Healthcare Revenue Bonds. Community Health Professionals are building a new in-patient hospice facility in Van Wert County. The remaining balance of the Hospice administration building that they built in Defiance will be refinanced with the cost of building the new facility in Van Wert.

 

Laura Howell, County Administrator, provided her update to the Board. Laura advised that most of the books in the Law Library will be removed or boxed up by next Wednesday. Laura has met with Jack Graf, Director of Job & Family Services, Tina Mohring, Family & Children First Coordinator and Kim Moss, Defiance County Health Commissioner, to discuss forming the County Family Services Planning Committee.

 

Laura advised that Nature’s Way Landscaping provided a sketch of where trees will be place at the Defiance County East building and should begin installing the trees within the next few weeks.

 

Tim Houck, Landfill Manager, submitted his monthly financial report for revenue & expenses for the Landfill.  The sales summary total for October is $327,761.54.  The annual tons total to date is 98,616.11 and the annual cubic yards are 436,759.

 

Tim also reported the yearly/monthly cubic yards comparison for 2007 is 43,070 vs. 30,468 for this same time in 2006.  The yearly/monthly tons comparison submitted for 2007 is 8,951.96 tons vs. 9,561.48 tons in October 2006.  The leachate monthly gallon total for the month of October is 339,753.00.

 

There will be no session held on Monday, December 3, 2007 as the Commissioners will be attending the CCAO Winter Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
