DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday December 1, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Becky Wagner, Administrator, Lyla Gurwell Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

 

8:30 A.M.     General Session      Clerk, Lyla Gurwell presented various resolutions, contracts and documents for approval of the Commissioners.  Commissioners also approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events, discussed upcoming meetings and updated information for the calendar of events.

 

The Commissioners will work with the Mayor and Council to obtain Grant Money for a proposed Fire Station for the Village of Hicksville.  The Village is temporally using a building at the Hicksville Fairgrounds to house their fire trucks.

 

The Commissioners also discussed the Emergency Disaster Response Plan with the Mayor. The plan includes schools, hospitals, The Village of Hicksville, and Defiance County Emergency Management.

 

The Commissioners would like to thank Pastor Ken Wellman, Jill Wellman and the entire congregation from the First Church of Christ in Hicksville for their support and assistance in helping establish and Emergency Shelter Generator Hook-up at their facility.  The Village of Hicksville as well as the County of Defiance will benefit from this capability in case of emergency and in the event that a needs arises for an emergency shelter.    

 

Defiance County Recorder Jane Tadson sent in her report for the month of November.  Jane’s office processed 196 deeds, 301 Mortgages, 232 Releases, 2 Leases, 6 Soldier Discharges and Recorded 1 Plat.

 

The total for the month of November 2005 was $42,748.50.  $21,172.50 for the Housing Trust and $21,576 for the General Fund.  This is $4,000 more than last month
