Joanne Goerlitz.

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

The Commissioners met briefly with Bob Arend, Arend Enterprises to discuss Courthouse projects.  Bob requested to install the necessary components needed for a new telephone system and computer network updates for the judges.  The Commissioners authorized Bob to go forward with the necessary work.

County Administrator Becky Wagner submitted her report to the Board.  Becky reported that she spoke to Defiance County Treasurer Karen Tubbs and Defiance County Engineer Warren Schlatter about moving the drop box for the tax payments to the Treasurer.  Because of the directional change in the traffic on Court Street, the decision was made to move the box to the diamond area located on the northwest corner of the parking lot as you are going west on Court Street.

Becky also mentioned appropriate “No Smoking” signs have been posted at all entrances of county buildings.  The ashtrays near the entrances have also been relocated so they are no longer near the entrance to any county building.

Becky also reported the Schick Road Canoe Launch is almost complete.  Becky reported the parking area was scraped and grindings were put down.  The embankment will be filled and the concrete would be put in by the end of this week.  Becky indicated she will work with Cindy Mack from the Defiance Development and Visitors Bureau to set up press releases on the canoe launch sites.

The Commissioners also met with Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer and Marlene J. Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor to complete the paperwork for the Airport Bond Anticipation Notes.  The Commissioners approved and signed the additional paperwork.

The Commissioners also met briefly with Dennis Miller to sign the Request for Release of Funds and Certification for Federally Funded State Projects.
