COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2010
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L.
Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell,
Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with
the Commissioners for an update.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings. Due to a State
required change in the scope of work for the Grandstand Electrical Work
project, the Commissioners rejected all bids that were submitted on November
18, 2010. The project will be revised to
meet State requirements and be re-bid at a later date.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners
for an update. Warren presented his 2010
Accumulated Revenue Report. Through
November the total accumulated revenue is $3,777,829.10 compared to
$3,709,979.81 for 2009 and $3,713,895.98 for 2008. Warren stated that he received notification
from ODOT that they cannot stripe CR 424 (Old US 24) with a bike lane, as the
County requested.
Jack Graf and Cindy Thatcher, Defiance County Job & Family Services,
met with the Commissioners for an update.
They reported having 41 children in foster care. The Workforce Development/One Stop Office had
1,020 visits in October and 698 in November.
In October there were 2,286 food stamp cases compared to 1,090 for
October 2005.
Ken Maag, Poggemeyer Design Group, and Russ Herman, Defiance County
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners in executive session
for pending litigation. No decisions
were made in executive session.
The Commissioners received the monthly report from Amy Galbraith,
Defiance County Clerk of Courts for November, 2010. Amy reported collecting $9,511.72 in legal
fees and $17,221.17 in title fees and deposits of $70,560.19
in legal and $324,113.60 in title.
There was $312,359.38 collected in sales or use and dealers
tax and $141.75 in watercraft tax collected.
There were 1,739 titles issued, 397 notation of liens and 396
inspections.
