DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday, December 15, 2005.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Otto L. Nicely.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Richard L. Cromwell; Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

8:30 A.M.        General Session

 

The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for their.  The Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed the calendar of events.

 

Jean Ziegler, Clerk of Courts, submitted her activity report for the month of November, 2005.  The Clerk of Courts collected $9,412.46 for Legal Fees, $4,945.19 for Title Fees, $9,183.93 for Certificate of Title Fees. Sales or Use and Dealers’ tax collected - $363,456.34 and the Watercraft Tax Collected - $341.02. 

 

10:30 a.m.      Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden 

 

Randy Vogel met with the Commissioners for his departmental update. Randy reported that he received and investigated 121 complaints for the month of November, 2005.  There were 35 dogs taken to the shelter, 245 personal contacts, 12 warnings, 22 citations were issued and 1,440 lbs. of animals was taken to the landfill.  Miles driven for the month of November was 2,528 miles.  Dog tag sales are up 180 from this time last year.  Randy noted that the Assistant Dog Warden is selling dog tags at the Sherwood Police Department on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Thursdays at the Defiance Police Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
