The
Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
The
Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners
for his weekly update.
Doug Engel, M.A.N. Unit, and Sheriff Westrick met with the Commissioners for an update. Doug Engel noted that the M.A.N. Unit has received $58,200.00 in Federal Grant funds and is considerably lower than what was received a year ago.
Sheriff Westrick and Lieutenant Chris Clawson met with the Commissioners for a Bid Opening. The Defiance County Board of Commissioners received and opened Bid Proposals for three (3) 2009 Sheriff’s Cruisers as follows: Statewide Ford – cruiser No Bid, Ford Explorer $23,435.00; Mark Moats – Crown Victoria $20,589.00, Ford Explorer $23,598.00; Stykemain – cruiser $27,390.00, 4 Wheel Drive $28,341.00; Byers Ford – cruiser $21,457.00, 4 Wheel Drive $23,447.00; Integrity – Dodge Durango $22,970.00, Dodge Charger $24,850.00; Whiteside – No Bid; Beckman Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc. – Chevrolet Tahoe $29,589.03, Chevrolet Impala $21,962.65. After the Bid opening, the Defiance County Board of Commissioners accepted the above referenced Bid Proposals for further consideration and will be awarded at a later date.
Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, met with the Commissioners to review the cost-analysis study for providing services such as euthanizing an owner’s dog, housing a dog picked up for running at-large, picking up a dog the owner no longer wants and various veterinary costs provided for emergency calls. The Commissioners reviewed the study to determine if the current fees charged by the Dog Warden need to be revised to reflect an accurate cost of the service.
Julie Voll of Family and
Children First (FCF) and Beth Foreman of Help Me Grow met with the
Commissioners for an update. Beth
informed the Commissioners that Help Me Grow is currently serving 100 children
in
families who have youths
that are involved with multiple services and identifies the family’s needs to
develop a plan that will work for the family.
Christmas for Kids Campaign was held on December 8th and
Julie noted that over $1,000.00 was raised.
