DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners approved a three year lease with the Defiance County Agricultural Society (Fair Board) for operation of the Defiance County Fairgrounds.  They also approved vendor agreements for transportation through the Defiance County Department of Job and Family Services with Larry and Beverly Gross, John Archambeault, James and Tamara McNeel and Erma DeTray.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the Board.  Laura provided project updates.  Laura informed the Board that the Northwest Ohio River Region will be holding the second River Region Splash on June 24-26, 2011.  The organization is still working on the events that will be scheduled for the tri-county area for the weekend.  Laura informed the Board that the Historic Jail Project contractors are currently working on painting, flooring, trim work, primary permanent power hook up and lighting fixture and cabinet installation.  

 

Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.  Tim reported annual sales of $266,191.76, 8,433.63 tons collected and 30,902 cubic yards collected for November compared to $185,911.69 annual sales, 5,886.85 tons collected and 19,007 cubic yards collected in November 2009.

 

Amy Galbraith, Defiance County Clerk of Courts, met with the Commissioners to discuss office staffing.  The Clerk of Courts department is now going to start paying for the Courtview software, which is the Court’s document management system, out of their funds and she will be updating here computer server.

 

The Commissioners’ Office is closed on Friday, December 24, 2010 in observance of Christmas Day.
