The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update on the Engineer’s Office and Landfill. Warren informed the Board that Carter Road was paved; the vegetation control contractor has completed their work also. The EMA Building’s parking lot is being milled and repaved. Paving is beginning on Sholl Road, following last week’s cement stabilization. The contractors for the crack sealing and chip sealing will begin next week.

 

Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update.

 

Greg Reinhart and Janalee Rethmel, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update. Greg reported the following maintenance items being completed in April: changed two grinder pumps on Switzer Road; unplugged a line at Evergreen Lane Office Complex; vacuumed wet well at Auglaize Village pump station #1. In April there was $57,664.74 billed out, $53,316.74 collected, and expenses of $36,903.81.

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on various legal matters.

 

Vickie Myers, Defiance County Treasurer; Jill Little, Defiance County Auditor; Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office; and Mayor McCann, Jeff Leonard and Dave Williams, City of Defiance, met with the Commissioners to continue the discussion on land banks.
