The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Sherry Carnahan opened the RFP’s received for IT services. There were proposals received from CIS and Arend Enterprises. The Board will review the proposals and award at a later date.

 

Tony Nighswander and Justin Kuhn, N & K Holdings, met with the Commissioners to discuss the proposed Makarious Place development. Hicksville Township Trustee Zeedyk, members of Hicksville Village Council, Hicksville Mayor Collins, Hicksville School Superintendent Countryman, and Representative Riedel were also in attendance. They discussed an investor-fronted Tax Increment Financing (TIF) option for the infrastructure (road, electric, gas, storm sewer) for the proposed development. After input from all parties, it was tentatively agreed to proceed with the drafting of a TIF and a development agreement, pending approval of the County Health Department and County Engineer.
