DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2006

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Thursday, September 14, 2006. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner’s Richard L. Cromwell, Otto Nicely, County Administrator Becky Wagner, Clerk Lyla Gurwell, and Deputy Clerk Joanne Goerlitz.

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval. Commissioners also reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings and reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

The Commissioners received a report from Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder. Jane reported that during the month of August 2006, the total instruments recorded were as follows: 252 Deeds, 265 Mortgages, 268 Releases, 3 Leases, 4 Power of Attorneys, 3 Soldier Discharges. and 1 plat recorded.

Jane also mentioned the total of the month of August 2006 was $37,542.45 of which $18,545.60 is for the Housing Trust Fund and $18,996.85 for the General Fund.

Jean Ziegler, Clerk of Courts came in to discuss the need for additional money necessary for the Court of Appeals. Jean asked the Board to transfer an additional $4,000 into that fund to get her office through the remainder of the year. The Board approved the transfer of funds.

Tim Houck, Director of Defiance County Environmental Services came in with Mannick & Smith, and Eastman and Smith to discuss the Landfill expansion and permitting issues.

Dick Sergeant of Eastman and Smith indicated the technical review portion of the expansion project is complete.

Tim Houck is confident this project will go out for bid in December of this year. The construction and bid documents are currently being assembled.
