DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2006

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512 on Monday, September 18, 2006.  Co-Chairman Richard L. Cromwell called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner Otto Nicely, Clerk Lyla Gurwell, and Deputy Clerk Joanne Goerlitz.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed, and updated the calendar of events.

         

Defiance County Engineer Warren Schlatter came in for his weekly update.  Warren discussed the project on Behnfeldt Road is nearing completion.  Warren indicated the guardrail would be installed today with the road opening by the end of the week.

 

Warren also mentioned the second abutment would be installed this week on the Farmer-Mark Road Bridge north of Blosser.

 

Greg Reinhart, Wastewater Operations, updated the Board of Commissioners and discussed his report for the month of August.  Greg mentioned he inspected 355 homes and re-inspected an additional 27 homes to make sure their water is hooked up correctly.

 

Greg reported a contractor hit the power line for the grinder pit pump on Oak Forest.  The contractor was informed they would need to repair the line.

 

Greg continues to work on inflow and infiltration for the express sewer.  Greg is also working on cost estimates for sewer rates for the new church on Elliott Road. 

 

Greg referred to a bad pump that he repaired at the site of the new exercise path for the dogs located at the Humane Society.

         

Kelli Etchison and Andy Bok, Defiance County Junior 4-H Members came in to talk to the Commissioners about the Junior Fairboard and 4-H Club.  Kelli and Andy submitted a report regarding the Junior Fairboard and discussed some concerns and events that took place during the Fair that require resolution.  The Commissioners will review their report and have further discussion regarding their concerns.

 

Economic Development Director Jerry Hayes, Larry Plummer with R & L Enterprise Industrial Park, Mayor Bob Armstrong, Jeff Leonard, City Administrator, Dave Williams, Defiance City Law Director, Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, John Seeley, Defiance City Finance Director, and Dennis Miller and Will Burns from Maumee Valley Planning came in to take part of a conference call initiated by Larry Plummer regarding the new Industrial Park in Defiance County owned by R & L Enterprises. They discussed the upcoming Ribbon Cutting at the Industrial Park on Friday, September 22, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.
