DEFIANCE COUNTY 911 CENTER
The 911 Center for Defiance
County was built onto the Defiance County Sheriff's Office in 1996. The 911
Center is the central point for emergency services throughout Defiance County.
The 911 Center dispatches for the Sheriff's Office, Defiance, Hicksville, and
Sherwood Police Departments,
and 11 fire departments.
The 911 Center is staffed by
one director, 13 full-time, and 2 part-time dispatchers. Oversight of the Center
is provided by the 911 board, made up of local agency heads.
Enhanced 911 services are
funded through a local tax levy. During the last fiscal year this levy
was reduced by .1 mill, in an effort to return unneeded funds to the taxpayers.
