Great American Clean Up 2009 Results

If you were driving around the State of Ohio on March 27th or the 28th, then you might have noticed full garbage bags along many road sides! That is because the 2009 Great American Clean Up was a tremendous success!! Defiance County Environmental Services, Defiance College and the Ohio Department of Transportation coordinated County, State and City roads to be cleaned during this event.

Defiance County Volunteers tripled from last year’s participation! Over 60 miles of road ways was picked up by over 150 volunteers. Defiance College Alpha Phi Omega picked up the Defiance College Campus and all roads near or around their school.

Governor Ted Strickland acknowledged this litter free event and participants by issuing a certificate, signed by the Governor, expressing his thanks for a job well done.
