The family is the center of Defiance County and children are the future. The well-being of Defiance County families is important in building strong communities. Defiance County will provide comprehensive and effective collaboration which supports families in their responsibilities for building independent and productive lives, while providing programming and activities to nurture and motivate parents and children to realize their potential. Defiance County will be a place where families can build upon their heiritage, feel secure in the present and reach for the future.

Found in all 88 counties in Ohio, the local Family and Children First Councils are a cooperative effort to support families. Under the Ohio Revised Code, the Family and Children First Councils are mandated to:

  • Create a coordinated system to promote child development
  • Coordinate services for families who have children with multiple needs
  • Build an improved system to serve Defiance County families
