County Services The
Defiance County Environmental & Administrative Services assists the public with litter
control. Our office picks up EVERY road in
Defiance County, per year, at least once. Defiance
County has an approximate mileage total of 920 miles.
There are about 760 miles of Township/County roadways and about 163 miles of
State/US Highways. That is a lot of miles of litter control!
Two Public Works Supervisors; Pete
Simonis and Marvin Hageman oversee a crew of CCNO trustees to assure all litter gets
pickup up. See Below:
In addition to the miles of litter picked up
throughout Defiance County, the Environmental & Administrative Services offers
assistance to the public when illegal dumping has occurred.
We have received numerous calls regarding appliances, sofa’s, bags of clothing,
just dumped along a road. We record the
information and send a crew to pick up the ‘dumped’ items.
Dead deer on county roads can also be called
into the E & A Office. Please have
complete directions when you call for the deer pickup, to assist our crews. Concerned
citizens may call our office (419) 782-5442 and we will send a crew to the location to
pickup.
During the winter months, Environmental &
Administrative Services has responsibility to keep several County Facilities and Bridges
free of ice and snow. We service the Courthouse, Commissioners Building, County Annex
Building, Key Bank, Health Department, Good Samaritan Schools, Island Parkway County
Offices, NOCAC, Sheriff’s Office and Sarah’s House.
Crews shovel and salt as needed to assure public parking and walk ways are cleared.
Environmental
& Administrative Services also provides assistance with the setup and tear down of the
Defiance County Fair and a variety of county projects.
We will provide garbage containers for community events such as homecomings, car
shows, and fund raisers.
We are here to serve the public and if we can help you in any way, please call us.
