Tim Houck, Director of the Defiance County Solid Waste District (Defiance, Fulton, Paulding and Williams Counties) was elected to the Board of Director’s of the Buckeye Chapter, SWANA.

This organization is a leader in the waste management field and is associated with the Solid Waste Management Association of North American.  SWANA and the Buckeye Chapter meet regularly with the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA).  These groups are dedicated to handling and disposing of society’s waste in an economical and environmentally safe method.  This is to ensure that future generations will not have to address new potentially lethal environmental issues.  This is accomplished by the collection and dissemination of information which is beneficial in the administration, policy making and plan preparation to implement programming by its member organizations.  These member organizations devise and improve programs to promote a cleaner better environment for the communities we serve.

SWANA Scholarships are available in the Ohio program Under the Myron S. Viny Scholarship Program.  Applicants are eligible for up to $1,500 per year in separate Ohio Chapter funds before applications are passed along to SWANA International.
