Defiance County Probate Court
The Defiance County Probate Court handles all filings and hearings for the admission of wills; the administration of decedents’ estates; applications for and administration of guardianships and conservatorships; adoptions; adult protective services actions; birth registrations and corrections; complaints for civil actions; disinterments; mental illnesses; minor settlement cases; name changes; testamentary trusts; and wrongful death actions. Additionally, this Court issues marriage licenses.
The Defiance County Probate Court is staffed by an Administrator, Lisa M. Detray, a Deputy Clerk, Pansy York and a Guardianship Liaison, Brooke Thomas.
Defiance County Juvenile Court
The Defiance County Juvenile Court handles the filing and processing of the following types of matters: juvenile delinquency and unruly cases; juvenile traffic offenses; abuse, neglect and dependency cases; paternity, custody and child support actions; failure to send child(ren) to school (Adults) cases; and contributing to the delinquency/unruliness of a minor (Adults) cases.
The Defiance County Juvenile Court is staffed by an Administrator, Erin Spieth, and Deputy Clerks, Kristen Hageman, Elizabeth Gerschutz and Nichole Farns.
