Giving Families the Gift of Time

The R&R (Rest & Recuperation) program of the Defiance Senior Services has volunteers who are ready and willing to assist in the homes of Seniors who are caring for a chronically ill senior who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Who Do R&R Volunteers Help?

Any eligible family of Defiance county who cares for a chronically ill or disabled Senior who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. A Senior is a person 60 years or older.

How Often Do Volunteers Assist the Caregivers?

Our Care Giving Volunteers visit once a week for a maximum of four hours.

What Do R&R Volunteers Do?

Participate in a training program that reviews the aging process, medical conditions, equipment, community resources and program operations.

Receives ongoing training, supervision and suggestions from the program coordinator. Respects the privacy of the families they serve.

Generously volunteers a few hours each week enabling caregivers to have a much needed break.

Helps without regard to race, income or religious affiliation.
