DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2010

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  The Commissioners awarded the bid for the Defiance County Fairgrounds Grandstand Installation project, based upon the recommendation of Beilharz Architects, Inc. and the Fair Foundation, to Dave York Sports, Inc. in the amount bid by them of $178,000.00.

 

The Clerk informed the Board that on Friday, October 1, 2010, the office received an Expedited Type 2 Annexation Petition from Troy Essex, Agent for the petitioners.  The petitioners are Adnan Hani Assaf and Angela Susan Assaf and Wash Your Car, LLC.  They are petitioning 1.711 acres of real estate in Richland Township to be annexed into the City of Defiance. 

 

Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer, met with the Commissioners for the third quarter investment advisory meeting.  The Defiance County Investment Portfolio, Landfill Closure Portfolio and Post Closure Portfolio were approved.

 

Karen Tubbs met with the Commissioners to sign a $91,200.00 Bond Anticipation Note for the purpose of constructing the Black Ditch.

 

The Commissioners recently received the monthly report from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder.  Cecilia reported that during the month of August 2010 the total instruments filed were as follows: Deed – 144; Mortgages – 254; Releases – 257; Liens – 10; Power of Attorney – 8; Plats – 3.  She also reported total receipts of $31,297.25, of which $15,320.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $13,377.25 went to the General Fund.
