THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 2008
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session
at 8:30 a.m. in the
Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville,
Ohio on Thursday, January 3,
2008. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners
Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, County Administrator
and Cara Brown, Clerk. Joanne Goerlitz,
Deputy Clerk, was present for the session at the Defiance location.
For the month of December, 2007, Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder,
reported recording 134 Deeds, 163 Mortgages, 161 Releases, and 7 Power of
Attorneys. The total of the month of December, 2007 was $24,167.75 of which
$11,936.50 went toward the Housing rust Fund and $12,231.25 went toward the
General Fund.
Laura Howell, County Administrator,
presented her operations report to the Commissioners. Laura advised that Julie
Rittenhouse, Public Safety Director, is looking into possible grant money to
fund the installation of Access Control at the Emergency Management Agency
building. Two possibilities are grants from Homeland Security and EMPG
(Emergency Management Performance Grant).
Laura also reported that half of the
shelving in the Law Library has been broken down and placed in boxes for
storage. Some of the shelving will be installed in the Annex for the Records Center use.
The Joint Board of Commissioners of Defiance
and Williams County,
Laura Howell, Defiance County Administrator, and Cara Brown, Clerk, attended
the Joint Board of Supervisors of Defiance and Williams County’s
informational meeting on the Lick Creek Ditch Project at Williams County
Commissioners office. A public hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
