The Board of
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Chis Clawson, Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, met with the
Commissioners for a bid opening for one (1) marked rear wheel drive patrol
cruiser and one (1) marked all-wheel drive/four wheel drive patrol cruiser.
Bids were received from Mark Moats Ford and Integrity Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
Bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date.
Laura Howell,
Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various
department and project updates. Laura provided an update on the Defiance County Prescription Drug Discount
Card Program. Defiance County has participated in the National Association of
Counties’ Prescription Drug Discount Card Program for 3 ½ years. For the
calendar year 2011, Defiance County has helped 1,767 residents fill 2,230
prescriptions through the program. The 2011 member cost of the prescriptions
totaled together at the card discount prices equaled $110,676.42. The price
savings to Defiance County residents totaled $34,628.04, an average price
savings of $9.43 per prescription. Since Defiance County began the program,
7,798 Defiance County residents have filled 9,966 prescriptions through the
program. The retail submitted price over the past 3 ½ years total $631,036.98,
with price savings of $138,159.89. The NACo program has now saved $448 million
on 35.8 million prescriptions in more than 1,400 counties nationwide.
Randy Vogel,
Defiance County Dog Warden, met with the Commissioners for his monthly update.
Randy reported in December investigating 76 complaints that resulted in 19 dogs
taken to the shelter, 13 warning issued and 8 citations issued. There was 3,377
miles driven and $975.00 received in Municipal Court Fines. There were 2,091 dog licenses for 2012 issued
in December.
Sandra Schappert,
Defiance County Child Support Enforcement Agency Director, met with the
Commissioners for her update. Sandra reported the following for October –
December 2011: 104 court or administrative hearings; 46 paternity establishments;
87 interstate actions; 60 new support orders established.
The Commissioners
attended the Annual Elected Officials & Township Trustees meeting at the
Defiance County EMA Building.
