DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicley, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanetha Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners to provide her weekly update.  Laura provided the following updates:

 

·         There are currently 120 residents, plus the Belden’s residents hooked up to the Auglaize River Sewer Project. The residential customers are to be hooked up to the system by February 13, 2012.

·         Theanopoint provided the following Defiance County website statistics: 2011: 55,025 page loads; 40,520 unique (new) visitors; 13,577 returning visitors; 2010: 52,936 page loads; 41,367 unique visitors; 13,023 returning visitors; 2009: 56,655 page loads; 42,935 unique visitors; 19,364 returning visitors.

·         In 2011, the Records Center staff filled 2,854 records requests from the public and from County employees. Records requests have increased by 62.1% from 2010.  Deposits of $1,668.93 were made for copies and certification fees which is a 4.4% increase from 2010. The Records Center took in 338 boxes and/or books of records in 2011. In 2011, the Records Center scanned a total of 12,477 individual images.

 

Bruce Clevenger, OSU Extension, met with the Commissioners for an office update. Bruce and the Commissioners will continue to research filling the currently vacancy of the Family & Consumer Sciences Coordinator position.
