DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr., and Otto L. Nicely, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for bid openings for 2012 Bituminous Materials and 2012 Crushed Aggregate.  Bids were received from Asphalt Materials, Inc. and K-Tech Specialty Coating for the 2012 Bituminous Materials. Bids were received from Custar Stone Co., Stoneco, Inc., Stafford Gravel and Hanson Aggregate for the 2012 Crushed Aggregate. The Commissioners took both bids under advisement and will award at a later date.

 

Warren provided the Commissioners with the Accumulated Revenue Report. The accumulated revenue for January 2012 was $343,318.71 compared to $334,936.93 for January 2011.

 

Julie Voll, Defiance County Family & Children First/Help Me Grow, met with the Commissioners for an update. Julie informed the Board that the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund SFY 2012 semi-annual report was submitted. The February 2012 current caseload for Help Me Grow is 6 at-risk, 14 home visiting and 41 part C.

 

Norm Tadsen & Orville Clark, Defiance County Master Gardeners, met with the Commissioners for an update. There are 14 newly enrolled Master Gardeners and 37 active Master Gardeners. They recently created raised, boxed gardens at Defiance County East. The Commissioners agreed to donate funds to the Defiance County Master Gardeners to aid in completing various projects throughout the County.
