COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at 8:30 a.m., in the
Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners,
500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner
Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.
Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime, James E. Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator,
Lyla Gurwell, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval. The
Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, and reviewed
and updated the calendar of events.
The Commissioners
received the January 2007 report from Randy Vogel,
Chief Dog Warden. Randy reported
investigating 102 complaints, made 261 personal contacts, issued 21 warnings,
wrote 14 citations, and took 25 dogs to the shelter.
Randy also reported
driving 2,419 miles during the month of January and took 1,860 pounds of
euthanized animals to the landfill.
Randy also mentioned court fine receipts for January were $544.
The Board also
received the January activity report from Jean
Ziegler, Defiance County Clerk. Jean reported collecting $13,865 for legal
fees, and $4,571 for title fees. Jean
also reported $357,985 from sales or used and dealers’ tax, and $953 for
watercraft taxes.
The number of titles
issued was 2,129, the number of notations of liens was 481, and the number of
inspections was 584.
Maumee Valley
Director Dennis Miller came in to
discuss agreements for technical assistance for the Housing Program Income Fund
as well as the agreement for technical assistance for the Revolving Loan
Fund. The Commissioners approved Maumee
Valley Planning to assist them in the administration of the Defiance County’s
Revolving Loan Fund Program.
The Commissioners
also met with Ken Keller from First Insurance to discuss the 2006 Defiance County yearend report. Ken reported the financial reports were good
for the year.
The Commissioners
received a call from the City Board of Control to discuss the north side
project. The Commissioners will meet
with the Board of Control at a later date to discuss the project further.
