DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, MARCH 5, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner James E. Harris, Jr., Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for bid openings for The Bend Road Bridge and Mulligans Bluff Road Bridge.

·         The Engineer’s estimate for The Bend Road Bridge is $775,000.00. The following bids were received: RG Zachrich Construction - $634,600.06; Miller Brothers Construction - $588,960.66; Vernon Nagel, Inc. - $608,147.09; Miller Contracting Group - $650,890.80. The Commissioners took the bids under advisement. Later in session, the Commissioners awarded the bid to Miller Brothers Construction, based on the Engineer’s recommendation.

·         The Engineer’s estimate for Mulligans Bluff Road Bridge is $557,000.00. The following bids were received: RG Zachrich - $434,218.00; Miller Brothers Construction - $434,559.13; Vernon Nagel, Inc. - $450,195.29; Miller Contracting Group - $432,870.28. The Commissioners took the bids under advisement and will award at a later date.

 

Warren provided the Commissioners with the Accumulated Revenue Report. The accumulated revenue for February 2012 was $665,597.35 compared to $663,648.70 for February 2011.

 

Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, met with the Commissioners to present elevator studies for the Courthouse. The Commissioners requested some additional studies of the building from Beilharz Architects.

 

Jack Graf, Defiance County Job & Family Services, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

Due to other meetings, the Commissioners will not be having session on Thursday, March 8, 2012. They will be meeting in regular session on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
