COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, MARCH 19, 2012
The Board of
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners
for an update on various pending legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for the 2012 Paving of Various Road
& 2012 Pavement Marking bid opening. The Engineer’s estimate is Proposal A Option 1 $287,574.00, Proposal A Option 2 $261,346.00, Proposal B $880,073.50 and Proposal
C $240,073.80. The following bids were received: Gerken Paving, Inc. Proposal A Option 1 $259,518.00, Proposal A Option 2 $301,424.90, Proposal B $911,311.75; RG Zachrich Proposal A Option 2
$249,068.00; Ward Construction Proposal C $222,371.39; Jennite
Company Proposal B $955,440.35; Henry W. Bergman Proposal C $237,122.01; Smith
Paving & Excavating Proposal A Option 2
$278,886.00; Crestline Paving & Excavating Proposal B $967,067.25.
The following Bids
for the 2012 Pavement Marking were received: Aero-Mark, Inc. - $97,237.52; Ogelsby Construction - $101,949.59. The Engineer’s Estimate was $93,504.45.
The Commissioners
took the 2 bids under advisement and will award at a later date.
Jeff Ankney,
Defiance County Soil & Water Administrator, met with the Commissioners for
an update. Jeff reported that the Ridge
Ditch public meeting was held. The Rosedale
Road Ditch Joint Board organization meeting was held. The Vetter tile was surveyed and preliminary
report was completed. The school poster
contest and photo contest is underway. There
were 54 people in attendance at the February planning meeting and over 200
people in attendance at the Ag Appreciation Breakfast.
Greg Reinhart,
Defiance County Wastewater Operations met with the Commissioners for an update.
Greg reported the following repairs done in February: installed new spring on
check valve at DMP pump station, replaced pump at
Middle Gordon Creek and changed a grinder pump at 10551 Stone Gate. In February there was $59,886.34 billed out, $62,017.09
collected and expenses of $45,948.73.

Bruce Clevenger,
Defiance County OSU Extension, Jack Graf, Defiance County Job & Family
Services, Kim Moss and Laura Coressel Defiance County
Health Department met with the Commissioners to discuss contracting out
parenting classes.
Tony Zartman and Fred Pieper, Paulding County
Commissioners, Corey Walker, Paulding County Job & Family Services and Jack
Graf, Defiance County Job & Family Services, met with the Commissioners to
discuss possible consolidation of services for Job & Family Services.
On Tuesday, the
Commissioners are attending the Hicksville Rotary Farm Day at Hicksville High School.
