COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the
Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Lavon Wiles and John Fifer, Fairboard, met with the Commissioners to
review the quotes for electrical work at the fairgrounds. After reviewing the
three quotes, the Commissioners approved the recommendation of Lavon Wiles of
accepting the lowest quote.
Cecilia Parsons,
Defiance County Recorder, met with the Commissioners for an update. Cecilia
reported that during the month of March, 2012 the total instruments filed were
as follows: 160 deeds, 184 mortgages, 7 other liens, 221 releases, 2 power of
attorney, 1 plat and 4 leases. The total receipts were $26,478.50, of which
$12,959.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $11,259.50 went to the General
Fund. During the first quarter of 2012 there were 416 deeds and 521 mortgages
filed, compared to 320 deeds and 419 mortgages for 2011. The total receipts for
the first quarter of 2012 were approximately $77,800, compared to $72,700 for
2011.
Isaac Lee,
Defiance Chamber of Commerce, met with the Commissioners for an update. Isaac
that the first quarter budget was $37,782.95, however actual expenditures was $33,839.16. Also, new membership growth of the Chamber
is up by 4.06%. The Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Make
Choices That Matter” LeaderCast on May 4, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
at the Defiance College.
The Commissioners
discussed the Ridge Ditch #99-13. After discussion the Board accepted the Ridge
Ditch #99-13, based upon the recommendation of the Defiance County Soil &
Water Board of Supervisors. On March 13, 2012 the Board of Supervisors
certified that the replacement of the Ridge Ditch #99-13 will improve water
management and development in the watershed area to the benefit of the lands
therein, that the cost of the proposed Project will be less than the benefits
and that the Project will benefit the lands in the area by promoting the
economical and social development of the watershed area.
The Commissioners
met in executive session for pending litigation per Ohio Revised Code 121.22 (G) (3) with
Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.
