DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicley, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Lanetha Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners met with Howard Ludwig, FWT General Manager, for an update and tour of the Hicksville, Ohio facility.  Mr. Ludwig informed the Commissioners that FWT plans to have minor production started by June, 2012 and major production in force by September, 2012.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various department and project updates.  Laura Howell reported that Job and Family Services and Family and Children First are collaborating on Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Community Awareness for the month of April. She also reported that one home on Power Dam Road from the Auglaize Pines sewer system remains to connect to the Auglaize River Sewer System. Once that home has connected, the Auglaize Pines building on Power Dam Road can be tore down.

 

Tim Houck, Defiance County Environmental Services/Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for the One or Two New Steel Wheeled Sanitary Landfill Compactor(s) bid opening. The following bids were received: Aljon Manufacturing LLC - $807,032.00 for one compactor, $1,614,064.00 for two compactors, $637,032.00 for one compactor without wheels, $1,444,064.00 for one compactor with wheels and one compactor without wheels; Southeastern Equipment - $746,999.00 for one compactor, $1,529,998.00 for two compactors, $684,999.00 for one compactor without wheels, $1,449,998.00 for one compactor with wheels and one compactor without wheels.  The Commissioners took the bids under advisement and will award at a later date.
