COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2012
The Board of
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the
Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for the bid opening for
Miscellaneous Concrete. Bids were received from Center Concrete, Inc. and Baker-Shindler
Inc. The Commissioners will take the bids under advisement and award at a later
date.
Warren informed
the Commissioners that the deck was poured on the bridge on Bostater Road. Work
still needs to be completed on the approaches and the guardrail installed
before the road can be re-opened. Roadside grading continues on The Bend Road
and Mud Creek Road.
Jerry Overmier,
Beilharz Architects, and Roger DeBelly, JDRM Engineering, met with the
Commissioners to review the electrical and HVAC studies for the Courthouse. The
Commissioners will continue to review the various studies provided for
Courthouse work, before making a final decision.
The Commissioners
attended the Joint Board of Defiance and Williams Counties meeting for the Lick
Creek Project. The following decisions were made by the Joint Board:
Termination of the law firm of Baran, Piper, Tarkowsky, Fitzgerald & Theis,
Co. L.P.A.; Hiring Donald Theis and the law firm of Theis Law Office, LLC,
Appropriation of $22,458.79 to pay Thies Law Office LLC the outstanding balance
owed to Baran, Piper, Tarkowsky, Fitzgerald & Theis, Co. L.P.A. that was
assumed by Theis Law Office, LLC. and authorize payment of said bill;
Appropriation of $438.00 to pay Susan E. Ingraham for the transcription of the
February 23, 2012 hearing and authorize payment of said bill; Appropriation of
$864.46 to pay The Defiance Publishing Company and the Bryan Publishing Co and
payment of said bills.
