DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, MAY 14, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator and Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk.   

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

The Board will be viewing the Farmer-Mark Tile Project May 24th.

 

Warren Schlatter – Defiance County Engineer presented his weekly update to the Board. Beginning this week, crews will be working on the Scott Road Bridge replacement. This is between Williams Center - Cecil and Openlander Roads. This will be closed for approximately three – four weeks. Crews are also continuing to work on the culvert replacement on the Williams Defiance County Line Road between Evansport and St. Rt. 66. Paving will be completed later this week.

 

Rick Edmonds, Superintendent of Good Samaritan School was in to update the Board on an upcoming levy for either a replacement for five years or a permanent levy. Mr. Edmonds will review this with his Board this coming week.

 

Greg Reinhart – Director Wastewater Operations and Jan Roehrig was in to discuss his monthly reports. The budget reports look good for this past month. Grege reported that Zachrich Construction has completed the sewer project at the Defiance County Airport.

 

John Ferland, Chairman of the Airport Authority Board was in to review the condition of the county owned hanger at the airport. Commissioners will view this hanger and discuss the condition at a later date with Mr. Ferland. He also reviewed the possibility of building a new hanger. The taxiway project will begin soon. Mr. Ferland would like to use some of the excess dirt from this project to fill in a ravine.

 

Marlene Goodwin – Auditor, Barb Lasek and Sharon Schuerman were in to discuss the IRS rules on meal reimbursements, clothing allowances and county vehicle use. These policies will be discussed at a later date.
