DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the Board. Laura advised that Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Manager, has obtained quotes for replacing the roof on the Maintenance/Historical Building at Auglaize Village. The Commissioners accepted the quote from Dilly Door in the amount of $14,875.00. Ron also informed Laura that D.G. Slurry Seal of Toledo will begin sealing the Defiance County East facility parking lot next week. The sealing will be done in phases and will begin about 5:00 p.m. so as to minimize disruptions for employees and citizens utilizing the building.

 

Cindy Mack, Defiance Development & Visitor’s Bureau, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on her work on Auglaize Village. Cindy is doing preliminary work in order to prepare the Village to submit applications for grant monies. Cindy submitted her report of what she has accomplished as well as the next steps that she would like to take at the Village.

 

Jeff Strausbaugh, Defiance County Prosecutor, and Ken Maag, Poggemeyer Design Group, met with the Commissioners in Executive Session to discuss the Auglaize River Sewer Project.
