DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.     

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

 

Deb Gerken, Executive Director of Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission, came before the Board to discuss a proposed housing project on South Ottawa Avenue. This would include 38 single family units.

 

Becky Wagner, County Administrator presented her weekly update to the Board. She reported the seeding will begin at the Defiance County East building. She also stated that Ron Cereghin is getting quotes for the Evergreen roof.

 

The Harding Road Reconstruction project will begin the beginning of June. The road will be closed beginning June 4th. Completion date is scheduled for August 20th.

 

The Commissioners viewed the Farmer-Mark Tile Project.  Approximately a dozen interested parties showed up. A Petition for construction of ditch improvement was filed on March 14, 2007 with the Board of Defiance County Commissioners to alleviate flooding of property and roadways within the watershed in the vicinity of Farmer-Mark Road south of SR 249 in Farmer Township. The Petition was initiated by Larry Mavis, President of the Farmer Township Trustees.  A first hearing has been scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmer Fire Hall.  The affected property owners will be given the opportunity for comments at the first hearing.
