DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk and Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk.

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval. The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

Becky Wagner, County Administrator presented her weekly update to the Board. The seeding project at Defiance County East has been completed. Ron Cereghin was in to discuss with the Board, quotes he has received for several projects. The Board approved to replace the maintenance hanger and hanger #5 roofs at the Defiance County Airport. The Evergreen roof project will have to go through the bidding process, as the quotes were over the bidding limit. Becky reported the well at the Humane Shelter has been repaired and is working well.

The Commissioners met with Tim Houck with Environmental Services. Tim submitted his monthly financial report for revenue & expenses for the Landfill. The sales summary total for April is $317,312.45. The annual tons total to date is 33,322.57 and the annual cubic yards are 136,265.

Tim also reported the yearly/monthly cubic yards comparison for 2007 is 39,599 vs. 27,826 for this same time in 2006. The yearly monthly tons comparison submitted for 2007 was 10,305.34 tons vs. 9,609.49 tons in April 2006. Leachate monthly gallon total for the month of April is 168,676.

The Commissioners toured a county owned hanger at the airport that is in disrepair. The Board has to decide whether to repair it or tear it down. They will review their decision with the Airport Board members.

The Commissioners also toured the West High Street canoe ramp. They have decided to make additional modifications to the ramp area.
