DEFIANCE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
JUNE 16, 2008
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session
at 8:30 a.m. on Monday,
June 16, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court
Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to
order. Also
present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Cara Brown,
Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk. Laura Howell, Administrator, was
absent.
Russ Herman, Assistant
Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on legal
matters in the Prosecutor’s office.
The Commissioners met in General
Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents,
approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of
events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the
Commissioners for his weekly update. Warren
submitted his 2008 Accumulated revenues report. Revenues to date are as follows:
Permissive Tax of $27,025.77, Motor Vehicle/License Tax of $108,339.65, Gas tax
of $194,497.97 and Court fines of $2,792.51. Warren advised that crews will be working on
the Williams County Line Road,
east of Openlander, to place beams. He expects the
road to open up by the end of next week, weather permitting.
Greg Reinhart, Wastewater Director, and Jan Roehrig, Clerk, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Greg advised that they have pumped sludge at
Evansport, Beldens, and Auglaize Pines pump stations. They have also jetted the
Auglaize Pines return sludge line. Greg stated that smoke testing on the
Express Sewer is scheduled for the end of July.
Niki Warncke and Dennis Miller,
Maumee Valley Planning Organization, met with the Commissioners to hold the 2nd
Public Hearing for the FY2008 CDBG Formula Program. Niki presented the
Commissioners with a list of applicants for the grant program. The
Commissioners will be submitting an application to the State for grant monies
for the projects that were submitted.
Williams County
Commissioners met with the Defiance County
Commissioners to review the Lick Creek Ditch Improvement
petition filed under ORC Section 6131. The Board of Commissioners of each
county formed a Joint Board of Commissioners of Defiance and Williams Counties
for the Lick Creek Project. A date, time and place of the first viewing and
hearing will be scheduled in the near future. Commissioner Thomas L. Kime was
appointed Chairman of the Joint Board and Commissioner Lewis D. Hilkert was
voted the Vice-Chairman.
The Joint Board of
Commissioners of Defiance and Williams
Counties also dissolved
the Joint Board that was formed under ORC Section 1515 for the first Lick Creek
Petition.
