COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved agreements with Maximus, Inc. for software
maintenance for computer programs utilized by Defiance County Job & Family
Services and Defiance County Child Support Enforcement Agency.
Jeff Ankney,
Defiance County Soil & Water Administrator, met with the Commissioners for
an update. Jeff reported that the Ridge Ditch
plans & specifications are being finalized for bidding; Vetter Tile
has the final hearing set for July 2, 2012, with fall construction planned;
South Gordon Extension (between SR 2 & Jericho Road) has been surveyed. The
following events were hosted by Soil & Water or participated in by Soil
& Water: G.M. Earth Day for 6th
graders; hosted a tour for The Nature Conservancy highlighting successful
conservation practices; Annual Tree Seedling & Fish Fingerling sale;
Co-sponsor & host of the 2012 NW Ohio Woodland & Wildlife Festival; Ag
Day for the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources Tour; “Land to Lake
Green Infrastructure training. Jeff noted that there were 1,016 entries for the
School poster contest for grades K-12. The theme for this year’s contest was
Soil to Spoon. There were over 100 entries in the School photo contest. This
contest is oriented to Conservation, Education, Trees and Plants, Wildlife, and
Landscapes and is open to K-12 students of Defiance County. The photos must be
taken in Defiance County. Students in grades K-12 that are residents of
Defiance County or attend a Defiance County school are encouraged to start
taking pictures for the 2013 photo contest.
Russ Herman,
Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Jeff Ankney, Terri Agler, Ben
Moser and Jason Roehrig, Soil & Water met with the Commissioners in
Executive Session to discuss possible litigation. No decisions were made in
executive session.
The Commissioners
attended the Bicentennial War of 1812 Ceremony and bell ringing at the Defiance
County East complex.
The Commissioners
attended the Joint Board of Defiance and Williams Counties continued final
hearing for the Lick Creek Ditch Improvement Project. The Joint Board approved
the minutes from the May 3, 2012 Continued Final Hearing and adjourned the
Continued Final Hearing to Monday, September 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the
Defiance County EMA Building.
