DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JUNE 28, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners signed the Moving Ohio Forward Grant Program Application from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for an estimated $181,089.00 in grant funds to demolish blighted residential structures.  Should the County be successful in obtaining the grant money, interested local governments can then submit their requests for potential projects.        

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners to provide her weekly update.  Laura informed the Commissioners that certified letters from the Defiance County Prosecutor will be mailed on Monday to the residents that have not hooked up to the Auglaize River Sewer system. 

 

The Joint Board of Defiance and Henry Counties met to approve the 2013 Ditch Maintenance Assessments. Kevin Hancock reviewed the ditches maintained by Defiance County. Robert Hastedt reviewed the report from Henry County Soil & Water for the ditches maintained by Henry County. The Joint Board approved the 2013 Ditch Maintenance Assessments for ditches maintained by both Defiance & Henry Counties.
