DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 2008

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, June 5, 2008.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, County Administrator and Cara Brown, Clerk.  Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk, was present for the session at the Defiance location.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, approved several travel requests, reviewed the agenda items and the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder, submitted her May, 2008 report to the Commissioners. Jane reported that the following were recorded in May: 155 Deeds, 260 Mortgages, 194 Released and 10 Power of Attorneys. The total of the month of May was $30,247.65 of which $14,844.20 went for the Housing Trust Fund and $15,403.45 for the General Fund.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, provided her weekly update to the Board. Laura advised that Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Supervisor, was contacted by the City of Defiance that there is a sight obstruction at Defiance County East on East Second St. There is a bush that obstructs the view of west bound East 2nd St. The Commissioners authorized the removal of this bush.

 

Laura also informed the Board that Greg Reinhart, Wastewater Director, will begin spraying for weeds and applying growth retardant at Defiance County East and Evergreen Lane Office Complex this week, weather permitting.

 

Morris Murray, Child Support Enforcement Agency Director, met with the Commissioners to discuss the contract that the Child Support Agency has with the Common Pleas Court – Adult Probation. The Child Support Agency contracts with the Court for the services of a Probation Office whose main focus is to supervise individuals who have been charged and convicted of either a misdemeanor or felony on the charge of non-support of dependents.

 

There will be no session on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Commissioners will be attending the County Commissioners Association Summer Conference.
