COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, JULY 2, 2012
The Board of
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The meeting with Isaac
Lee, Defiance Chamber of Commerce, for an update was rescheduled so the
Commissioners could attend an update meeting on the power outages at the EMA
building.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren
informed the Board that the Mulligans Bluff Road bridge project should be
completed this week. The work on Krouse Road is
progressing. The Road Widening project has begun on Hammersmith Road. Roadside
grading work is being performed on Banner School Road, Williams Road, Christy
Road and Elliott Road.
Corey Walker,
Defiance County Job & Family Services Director, met with the Commissioners
for an update.
Morris Murray,
Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, and Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecutor,
met with the Commissioners for an update on various legal matters.
The Commissioners held
a meeting to discuss the drought conditions with the Fire Chiefs, Township
Trustees and County and City officials. Morris Murray, Defiance County
Prosecuting Attorney, explained that the Commissioners cannot enforce a
County-wide open burn ban. Municipalities, however are able to enforce burn
bans if they so choose. Sheriff Westrick stated that citations will be given to
anyone that causes, intentionally or unintentionally, a fire will be cited. All
in attendance came to the consensus that the public should be informed and
alerted of the extreme danger that current exists of any open burning,
including fire works.
The Commissioners
attended the Vetter Tile Public Hearing.
On Tuesday the
Commissioners will hold a Special Session for the Ridge Ditch #99-13 Final
Hearing.
County Offices
will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in observance of Independence Day.
