DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JULY 5, 2007

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator and Sherry Carnahan, Deputy Clerk.

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval. The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, discussed upcoming meetings, reviewed and updated the calendar of events.

Becky Wagner, County Administrator, presented the Board with her weekly update. Becky received information from Deb Gilgenbach, Defiance County Health Department, about the Heart Walk on September 15^th. Deb will be putting together a team of Defiance County Employees to participate in the walk. Becky also reported that she viewed the changes that were made at the West High Canoe Launch. The changes look good and hopefully it will be easier to maneuver canoes up and down the slope.

The Board met with Jack Graf, Interim Director of Job & Family Services for an update. The One-Stop office had 661 customers for the month of June. They took 76 applications and 240 people were hired through the agency. He also reported the State will be cutting various funds for Jobs & Family Services.

The City Board of Control and Jerry Hayes- Economic Development were in to discuss the water and sewer services for future development along Elliott Road.

The Board would like to thank the following for all their time and effort in arranging the Honor Flight for our WWII Veterans: Mike Boff, Bob Lehman, Dan Ball and all of the organizations and/or citizens that donated for this flight.
